Viaton's Airwhite range ofbariumsulphate extenders is manufactured either from high-whiteness, low-silica, high-purity naturalbariumsulphate, or from chemically precipitated materials.

The invention provides an alginate-bariumsulfate microsphere, a preparation method and an application thereof. The microsphere comprises the following components by weight: 2-10% of sodium alginate, 10-40% of calcium chloride, 2.5-7.5% of W/O emulsifier, 0.5-2.5% of chitosan and 40-85% ofbariumsulfate. The diameter of the alginate-bariumsulfate microsphere is 50-400 microns.

Theconcentrationof solublebariumwas on average 7.19 g/L, and levels up to 123.7 g/L were found. The most frequent solution dosage was 150 mL. The median interval between administration and symptom onset was 1.0 hour (range, 0.1–5 hours), and all deaths occurred within 24 hours after exposure.
